Chauvet Cave Paintings

These paintings were done about 30,000 years ago in what is now called Chauvet Cave in southern France. Part one of how amazing these paintings are is that they're so well preserved. Even after roughly 30,000 years they remain incredibly vibrant today. Part two of how awesome these paintings are is the sheer illustrative skill. It is something of a comfort, and also somewhat mind blowing, to know that such artistic ability has resided within humans for such a length of time. Check out more on the Chauvet Cave here.
